ABIA IT BUILDING

Client City of Austin aviation department

Location Austin, TX

Team Asakura Robinson, Page Architects

This LEED Silver information technology hub, designed by Page Architects, is the nerve center of Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) operations. The client desired outdoor work spaces and amenities that competed with Austin-area tech companies to bolster its hiring and retention efforts. Outdoor amenities included modular smart workspaces, including TV screens, standing desks, fans, ethernet connections, and power outlets. Custom seatwalls also provided places for employees to gather.

The scope also included the integration of security measures into the landscape, including a perimeter security system consisting of vehicular barriers, climb-resistant fencing, and berms. The 3 acre campus also has a number of pedestrian pathways and golf cart trails that link to the airport’s trail system. As a 24 hour facility, the site’s lighting plan also encouraged staff to use outdoor areas on their overnight shifts.

Work completed while Colter Sonneville was employed as a senior associate at Asakura Robinson.
